Members Book Recycling Facility

The Group has set up a book recycling facility. Even if the book is virtually BRAND NEW!, we are suggesting that we consider the Recommended Retail Price (RRP) and make a suggestion as to the appropriate amount, a Suggested Minimum Donation (SMD), of no more than 25% of the RRP.

These books come from late members personal libraries, or from members finding it to difficult to store any more books, especially if some books were obtained for a particular area of study, a project or a publication, which has now been finished. This way there are some real bargains for our members. JOIN NOW !!!, it will not take long to get the £15.00 back in these reduced costs books, and remember all members also get all the Group's publications at 33% discount, plus them being post free.

An example of what is offered could be :-

Alcock,L  1987    Economy, society and welfare among the Britons and
Saxons.  RRP £37.50  SMD £9.25. A real bargain.

Shortly to be released The Tribe of the Witches, The religion of the Dobunni and Hwicce, written by Stephen Yeates, published by Oxbow Books, price believed to be £30.

Stephen was one of our students, and went on to gain a Doctorship in Archaeology at Oxford. His thesis for his PhD. also dealt with the area's Iron Age and subsequent history. That was Religion, Community and Territory: Defining religion in the Severn Valley and Adjacent Hills from the Iron Age to the Early Medieval Period. It was so detailed and complete that it had to be published in three parts, the whole costing £70.

We welcome his new book as we believe it will greatly assist us in our researches into both the Iron Age and the Dark Age in Dean, plus its price is more within our reach.
